Take the boat into the mist for the first crossing attempt.

Try to cross the river

Board the marked boat and interact with its oar to start sailing. Steer out from the pier into the mist. Wind Sense (opens in a new tab) (V on the PC layout shown) makes nearby boats and people easier to see. This attempt returns you to the same shore as the story advances.

Get off the boat and discuss a plan

When the boat reaches the pier again, leave the boat and walk onto the shore. Follow the nearby story marker to the camp conversation.

The next marker is on the shore beside the returning boat.
